Our 2023 Sydney Seminar was held on 14 June with 644 people attending, including 285 in person and 359 online.
It is the 11th event since the Office's inception in 2012 and the third hosted at UTS Aerial and simultaneously live-streamed.
This year's Seminar, Current and Upcoming Issues in the Personal Injury Schemes, featured legal, insurance, and government professionals presenting on key issues for today and the future in dealing with the claims of people injured at work or in motor accidents.
There was a focus on practical elements around skills for practitioners, including Barrister Sarah Warren with tips and tricks on presenting matters at the Personal Injury Commission (PIC), and Dr Roger Pillemer OAM with guidance on better understanding of medicolegal reports .
Participants also heard from Adam Dent, the Chief Executive of the State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA) about regulatory priorities for the upcoming year, and Mary Maini, the Group Executive Workers Compensation at icare about the improvement program and new Claims Service Providers.
The IRO team presented on opportunities for early solutions in disputed workers compensation claims, while Tatjana Jokic presented on why it pays to care on behalf of the Australian Rehabilitation Providers Association.
And a panel of experts unpacked how to best assist injured persons whose conduct is challenging while ensuring the wellbeing of team members.
